This five years includes three years of theories, a year of practical and an extra year of field work that would allow you have a first-hand experience in the field.

Graduates from an aviation school work in the aviation industry, they can also work in a private organization.
A aeronautic engineer can work in a aircrafts manufacturing company while a pilot can work for an airline.

UTME Subject Combination To Study Aircraft Engineering Or Piloting In Nigeria

To get admission into an aviation school, you’ll need to write four courses in your Jamb UTME exams, the score is not fixed as every school have their cut-off mark. These are the courses you should write if you want to apply in any aviation college; English, Maths, Physics and Geography.

Note that you must get a C in English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Geography in WASSCE, NECO, NABTEB or its equivalent in not more that two sittings.

Aviation Colleges In Nigeria

Now that I have given you a brief information on getting a degree in an aviation school, it’s now time to give you a list of aviation colleges in Nigeria that you can choose from to kickstart your dream of either flying a plane or making one.

Nigeria College Of Aviation Technology

This is first on my list because it is considered as the best by ranking.
Nigeria college of aviation technology (NCAT) is a federal institution in Zaria, Kaduna. It’s one of the oldest and biggest aviation college in Nigeria.
I once had a view of this school and I must confess that it is superb and deserves any credit it is given.
NCAT was established in 1964, even before the prestigious Ahmadu Bello university. It was founded by the federal ministry of aviation to aid in equipping pilots and aircrafts engineer, at that time aviation was still young in Nigeria and only a few people were involved.
The school was formerly known as Nigerian Civil Aviation Training Center. Unlike other aviation colleges, NCAT has a wide range of courses offered in the school which includes; aircraft and maintenance engineering, piloting, international flight training, aeuronuaumical telecommunication, private or international pilot license, aviation management and a whole lots of others.

International Aviation College

International aviation college, is also an aviation college In Nigeria, this college is based in Ilorin, Kwara State.
It’s one of the newest and recent aviation institute in Nigeria. International aviation college was founded in 2011 by the Kwara State government to boost the revenue of the state. Unlike NCAT, this aviation college is state-owned.
This school, has graduated over 120 students since its inception. If standard of learning is what you want then this aviation school may be what you want because of the sophisticated aircrafts/planes they use in giving out lectures to their students.
Note that this particular school doesn’t give a degree but a diploma in any of your preference course and you must be atleast 17 year before you can be given admission in the school. Every programme in the school lasts for a year and half. After getting your certificate, you can choose to either further immediately by getting a direct entry to any aviation school that offers a bachelor’s degree programme or use the certificate to get a job.

Universal School of Aviation

Universal School of Aviation is located in Lagos. One remarkable thing about this school is that they are not only concerned about your academic but also what you’ll offer as a staff in the aviation sector.
This school has a flexible tuition fee compared to other aviation schools as they offer a 10% discount on tuition for students who have a financial constraint. They also offer a 10% discount to two or more siblings who are studying in the school at thesame time.
Not long ago, they also made it possible for people who siblings graduated from the school to also apply for the 10% discount.
Universal school of aviation offers a wide range of courses ranging from flight attendant/cabin crew, travel agency management, air ticketing, electronic booking and others. Note that this school do not offer pilot and aircraft engineer degree.

Dhaewood Aviation Business School

Dhaewood Aviation Business School is a training for people who are interested in making money by starting a business in the aviation industry.
This school was founded in 2005, Dhaewood Aviation Business School doesn’t give a degree in aeronautic engineering or piloting as it entails working for a company. Just like the name implies, this school is focused on
teaching you the aviation business, for example if you want to go into airline ticketing, travel consultancy/agency.
It is also focused in training young students to enable them work in the aviation by teaching them employable skills.
In DABs, the tuition is affordable and the environment is conducive for learning.
Some of the courses offered by Dhaewood Aviation Business School are; Airport security and safety, 2D/3D Animation courses, Air Travel studies, Travel visa processing and management, CRS/GDS.

Aeroport College of Aviation and Travel Management

Aeroport College of Aviation and Travel Management is located in Lagos and is considered to be one of the best aviation school when it comes to qualify standard of teaching.
This school offers courses that would aid their graduands in getting a job in the aviation sector. It is a private institute that offers not only aviation courses but also tourism and business ideas in the aviation industry.
They offer courses like Crew Abi-Initio training, Cabin Basic Flight, Cargo Handling, Dispatcher, and Travel Agency Management.
