With the way the economy of the country isn’t something to write home about, alot of students are searching for the path to make their studies flexible.
MTN is a renowned telecommunication company in Africa owned by a South African based company.
The MTN foundation scholarship isn’t limited to Nigerians only but to students in the whole of Africa.
I was having a discussion with my roommate and he told me about his brother who was a beneficiary of the MTN foundation scholarship, I went ahead to make my research and found it best if I write down the procedures so that students who desire the scholarship would be able to get it.
According to research, thousands of students have benefited from this initiative and MTN isn’t stopping anytime soon. This scholarship is done annually and is opened to every student as long as you meet the requirements.

Scholarship Benefits For MTN Foundation Scholarship

The scholarship is been run bi-anually to 500 beneficiaries and the grand given is N200,000.
The scholarship is given to students to enable them to cover the cost of accommodation, tuition and other miscellaneous.

Eligibility For MTN Foundation Scholarship

  • To qualify for the MTN foundation scholarship you must;
  • Be a Nigerian citizen.
  • Must be able to read and write in English.
  • You must pass the examination set for the candidates to qualify, the exams is meant for 100L students who haven’t written exams.
  • Students who are in 200L or 300L must meet a CGPA of 3.5+ to benefit from the scholarship.
  • You must have an upper credit aggregate to qualify if you are running an HND programme.
  • Student with one disability or the other can benefit from the scholarship if the meet a CGPA of 2.5.

You cannot apply for the scholarship if you have benefited from it before.

Unfortunately, not every course is eligible for the scholarship. I was not able to apply because the course I studied wasn’t eligible for application.

How To Apply For MTN Foundation Scholarship

  • To apply for this scholarship, go to https://foundation.mtnonline.com/scholarship/stss.
  • Obtain the scholarship form from the MTN foundation scholarship website or in any MTN outlet close to you.
  • Fill in the form correctly and follow the instructions given to you on the portal to apply for the scholarship exercise.
  • Print out the slip from the portal.
  • A notification will be sent to your email if you were selected to write the scholarship exercise.

Scholarship Deadline

The scholarship deadline isn’t officially out yet but it usually falls between August, September or October.

Country Eligibility

To qualify for the scholarship you must be a citizen of Nigeria, Ghana or South Africa and must be an undergraduate student of a tertiary institution in one of these countries.

There isn’t an age limit for the scholarship, you can apply for it as long as you are an undergraduate.

How Much Is The Benefits From The Scholarship

The money gotten from the scholarship is N200,000.

Can I Apply For The Scholarship More Than One

You can’t apply for the scholarship if you were a beneficiary but you reapply if you were not privelage to qualify on your application.

Is The Scholarship Opened To Every Student

The MTN foundation scholarship is opened to only undergraduate hence diploma, postgraduate and doctorate students are not eligible to apply.

How Is The Scholarship Exercise Carried Out And Is It Compulsory

Due to the number of students, writing an examination to qualify for the scholarship is compulsory. The venue of the exam is usually close to you and would be communicated via the notification. However, there is no need to sit for an exam if you have passed your year one school exams with a CGPA equivalent to second class upper or upper credit.

Can An ND Student Apply

National diploma students can apply but you must be in ND 2 to be eligible which means freshers cannot apply.
